Growth Responses and Acclimatization of Ficus benjamina ¢¥WG-1¢¥ to the Changes of Light Conditions

Abstract
This study was carried out to obtain basic informations on the proper environments to grow indoor foliage plants. Ficus benjamina ¢¥WG-1¢¥ was grown under four different light intensities to find out the best growing and acclimatization conditions. Four light intesities were obtained by shading 90%, 60%, 30%, and 0% of full sun. 1. Plants grown under full sun were tall, with increased number of leaves. They also had higher leaf densities than those grown under shade. Leaves of full - sun - grown plants were smaller, thicker, and lighter green than those of shade - grown ones. The best growth of Ficus benjamina ¢¥WG-1¢¥ was observed under 60% shading. 2. The growth of Ficus benjamina ¢¥WG-1¢¥ under low light intensities (60%, 90% shading ) was better than higher light intensities (0% , 30% shading ) considering the abilities to be acclimatized.
